REDWOOD CITY, USA AND LONDON, UK – July 27, 2011 – Upstream, the global mobile marketing technology and solutions provider, today announced the opening of its new Silicon Valley headquarters in Redwood City, California, as part of its strategic drive for growth in North America, making its proven mobile marketing technology and solutions available to US brands and carriers.

“Launching a U.S office in the heart of Silicon Valley demonstrates Upstream’s ambitions in the marketplace and the belief that our technology should be at the core of every marketing campaign aiming to maximize customer response and conversion,” said Alex Vratskides, CEO, Upstream. “The mobile device is the greatest direct-response marketing medium ever devised and we’re singularly focused on effectiveness. Upstream delivers technology and campaign innovation that maximizes customer response to every marketing pitch and delivers the highest improvements in customer conversion rates.”

Upstream’s Marketing Communications Suite (MCS) technology platform and marketing campaign expertise have so far generated more than $500m in incremental revenue for its brand and carrier clients around the world, including: Coca-ColaNestléVodafoneT-Mobile,Telefónica and América Móvil.

Upstream’s U.S. headquarters will be headed-up by Michael Linnert, General Manager, North America, who is adding to his team of business development, client services and technology experts.

“The battle for consumer attention on mobile devices is intensifying,” said Linnert. “Our latest study with Luth Research shows that 70 percent of U.S. smartphone owners are interested in receiving targeted offers on their devices, but they’ve also made it clear that there is a limit to the number of interactions they’ll accept. Over half said that more than two offers per month would risk causing them to opt-out or churn.”

“Our MCS platformoffers a powerful service to brands and carriers that want to increase consumer engagement and return on investment from their marketing programs,”
said Linnert. “With local service and support, we are ideally positioned to help our North American brand and carrier customers cope with the growing complexity of delivering personalized marketing campaigns and real-time offers over mobile devices to generate substantial revenue growth.”

Upstream’s MCS marketing technology platform handles more than one billion interactions every year to over 500m consumers in 40 countries and combines real-time, optimized communications; game mechanics and dynamics; contextualization and personalization with advanced analytics and consumer insights to provide the best possible customer response rates.

The Silicon Valley launch is the latest regional expansion for Upstream adding to its existing global footprint of offices in London, Athens, Rome, Singapore, Bucharest and Dubai.
