Upstream wins the MAMA 2009 gold award for “Best use of mobile in driving new revenue and sales”

Upstream received the Gold Award for “Best use of mobile in driving new revenue and sales” at Visiongain’s Mobile Advertising and Marketing Awards & Conference 2009 in London. The prestigious award is in recognition of the highly successful “100 BMW” mobile promotion launched by the Telefonica-O2 brand in Czech Republic in November 2008.

“We are absolutely delighted with the MAMA 2009 Gold award for the 100 BMW Promotion organized with Upstream,” said Matts Johansen, Chief Marketing Officer of Telefonica O2 Czech Republic. “The promotion was a significant commercial success for Telefonica O2 and this award represents recognition for the hard work of the teams from both Upstream and Telefonica O2.”

The promotion exemplifies a unique combination of mobile marketing and revenue generation that Upstream has pioneered globally, reaching a wide audience and significantly increasing revenue for the operator.

The promotion delivered clear incremental revenue for Telefonica-O2 and showed an exceptional amount of customer involvement:  with over 400,000 participants, an average of 13 participations per subscriber, and premium SMS revenues in excess of €5m, “100 BMW” is by far the largest and most successful mobile promotion ever in the Czech Republic.

Visiongain’s Mobile Marketing and Advertising Awards & Conference celebrate the best in mobile marketing and advertising industry and recognize the technologies, companies, innovations and campaigns that moved the industry forward every year. The awards ceremony followed a day-long conference with international and local keynote presentations and discussions from industry experts who shared knowledge on how to create, deliver and monetize the potential of mobile advertising and marketing.
