Upstream shows how to be ahead of the m-commerce curve in developing markets at its 7th Mobile World Congress participation

London, UK February 15th 2016 – Upstream, a leading mobile commerce accelerator in high growth markets, will be marking its 7th consecutive attendance at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona this year, with its largest ever presence at the show. 25 Upstream delegates will be attending the show and hosting existing and prospective partners at Upstream’s booth, in Hall 2, at stand 2L1.

Upstream will be debuting the findings of its latest consumer research, undertaken with YouGov, into consumer attitudes to mobile commerce, in key developing markets.

2015 saw a number of large Western brands make a concerted effort to expand their brand into developing markets. With the next 3 billion consumers beginning to come on line in these high growth markets, brands need to expand now to take advantage of the coming m-commerce rush. Developing markets are a unique proposition, and brands require local knowledge and relevant solutions to be successful.

Upstream will be announcing two new product launches to the packed Fira Gran Via. Building on its MINT 2.0 application suite, Upstream’s refreshed mobile product portfolio shows a particular strengthening in the Stores and Portal, and Services-via-mobile categories.

Adding to Upstream’s MWC successes, the brand is a finalist in the Global Mobile Awards for the ‘Best Innovation in Emerging Markets’ category with its Mobile Language Learning service which already enjoys over 10 million subscribers, across 15 countries.

Following from Upstream winning the GSMA’s Green Stand Award for low carbon footprint at Mobile World Congress last year, this year’s stand re-doubles Upstream’s commitment to corporate sustainability. Built from recyclable and re-usable materials, Upstream is committed to a greener corporate landscape.

The 2016 GSMA Mobile World Congress, the mobile industry’s most important annual event, will be held in Barcelona on 22 – 25 February 2016, at the Fira Gran Via. Last year, the four-day event attracted more than 94,000 visitors from over 200 countries and was covered by nearly 4,000 members of the international media. This year’s theme is “Mobile is Everything”, a theme which is especially true in the mobile first developing world, and a theme which is particularly relevant for Upstream.
